UNBOUND TRAINING CENTER CERTIFICATION
Unbound: Growing Ever-Freer in Christ is a discipleship and biblical counseling curriculum that has been used successfully in the lives of thousands to gain freedom from the effects of sin and brokenness so they can continue to grow ever-freer in Christ, no matter what has been hampering that relationship.
Unbound is meant to be used either as a one-on-one counseling and discipleship tool, or as a small group study. While everyone is welcome to use the material, we have developed a process for certifying churches and biblical counseling ministries to ensure that the integrity and consistency of the material, its use, and the ministry of the growing network of biblical counselors and churches utilizing Unbound are protected and maintained.
We created and provide this opportunity so we can ensure that individuals trained by Certified Unbound Training Centers receive the same level of training and preparation as those trained directly by Truth in Love Biblical Counseling. This is so that the credibility of the Certified Unbound Leader program is maintained at the highest level we can achieve.

The Process
- Be a Certified Unbound Leader in good standing with TILBCC and have served in this capacity for a minimum of two (2) years.
- Be an active member in good standing of a local church fellowship and have a solid character reference from the Senior Pastor or other Elder.
- Be a Certified Biblical Counselor, Commissioned Biblical Counselor, or be actively pursuing certification or commissioning with a TILBCC-approved certifying organization.
- Apply for the certification program and, once approved, coordinate with the TILBCC Director to schedule co-teaching with the Director (or designated instructor) for the required minimum of two Certified Unbound Leadership training modules.
- Upon successfully completing the requisite teaching cycles, the TILBCC Director (or designated instructor) will recommend the candidate for certification as a Certified Unbound Training Center Director.
- The candidate will be required to sign the licensing agreement and pay the one-time licensing fee. This covers the costs of the certification training, authorization to utilize the TILBCC Curriculum for Unbound Training and Certification, and ongoing support by TILBCC of the Certified Unbound Training Center Director and their program.
- Abide by the TILBCC Standards for Leadership which, at a minimum, shall require freedom from sexually immoral behavior for a minimum of 5 years, freedom from financial impropriety for a minimum of 5 years, active participation in a local church fellowship, and active personal accountability.
- Utilize only the TILBCC Curriculum for Unbound Training and Certification. This includes equipping students to use Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Suffers by Dane Ortlund as a supplement to Unbound. No other additional resources may be used unless preapproved by the TILBCC Director.
- Ensure that those applying to become Certified Unbound Leaders have met all the requirements for certification before recommending them for certification.
- Certified Unbound Training Center Directors debrief with the TILBCC Director at least twice per year and participate at least once per year in an online or in-person refresher training session for Certified Unbound Training Center Directors.
